There is an obvious top and bottom so its easy to get into position before opening it. It inflated very quickly and does have that smell, which will probably take a week to fully dissipate. Ok…. The directions are 27 pages long. I almost hired someone to put it together until I unboxed it, and it wasn’t that bad. Now…. Though, it took me almost 3 hours, and the directions say 30 minutes ( but that’s with2 people and I’m sure it could get done faster. The white sofa is exactly as pictured. There are some very interesting things happening with compression these days. This came in a box that makes it look like a big mistake, but it’s a trust the process moment. Once you get it unrolled it pops up into shape relatively quickly and you can sort of abuse it a little to rough it up into shape quicker (as per the instructions). This couch is even prettier in person! It looks extra white in the photo but in person it’s more beige which was perfect for me, but something to make note of if you’re wanting something pure white.
