I watched the assembly of this bed. It’s clearly very sturdy, with strong slats and a central heavy board down the middle to support the slats. It’s handsome as well. However, with a modern 12” deep mattress, the headboard only extends 2.5” above the mattress (without any mattress pad or sheets) so it remains to be seen how comfortable this is for sleepers, since the headboard will not provide much support for their pillows. We’ve actually purchased this bed frame twice this year! We first bought the queen size for ourselves and were very happy with it. A couple of months later, we decided to upgrade to a king-size bed, so we gave the queen frame to our son and purchased the exact same bed frame again in king size. We love the quality. It’s made from solid wood, feels sturdy and well-made. It works with our new 16-inch-high mattress and adjustable base, although the headboard does look a little short with such a tall mattress and base. The bed went together fairly easily, even with one person! For a few of the steps, I had it leaning on the wall with a blanket for extra protection, but the pieces went together smoothly with little extra effort. The most time consuming part was simply attaching the bed slats, which was quick with a drill.
