It is beautiful and feels heavy and stable. It does not squeak or move around. I placed the bed on the carpet and the drawers still move in and out easily. Drawers are made of solid wood. I have had other similar beds where the drawers are made of plastic. I am glad that I paid someone to install it because it took a pro more than an hour. This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down.
