Hugh is a classic matelassé constructed of mercerized cotton for a sleek appearance and hand feel. The all-over stippling design provides subtle interest, and the coverlet is finished with scalloped edge rounded front corners. Matelasse (mat-la-SAY) is a weaving or stitching technique yielding a pattern that appears quilted or padded. Matelass may be achieved by hand, on a jacquard loom, or a quilting machine. It is meant to mimic the style of hand-stitched quilts made in Marseilles, France. It is a heavy, thick textile that appears to be padded, but actually has no padding within the fabric. Our Hugh Matelasse has a soft, pebble-like texture.

Beautiful. Lovely weight. Feels great. Looks great.. Edisa. NY. Wed Aug 05 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For starters it’s VERY soft. I’ve washed it a few times and it hasn’t shrunk, faded in color, nor shed any. Stitching is seamless, it’s not thick but the weight keeps you so warm!. Kristas. Wed Sep 16 2026

Our Juliet Matelassé Coverlet is a long time favorite. Its textured basket weave design and garment-washed finish make it soft and sumptuous. Available in five favorite neutrals to go with all of your Peacock Alley bedding. Available in coverlets and shams.

Wow! Love it! I’m now a total peacock alley fan, if you have a king bed, this version (and many other peacock alley versions) have more generous sizing to allow extra drape on the sides. Not too much, it isn’t like a bedspread. Also I love that the Juliet has some give. I have the Hamilton which I love but it has zero give and looks more like a quilt. It’s gorgeous too. It depends on what you are going for. Both are in the luxury bedding category,. Mary. Reno, NV. Sun Oct 11 2026

The online description only included the length of this bedspread. Through Chat the customer support gave me both length and width of queen, king, and California king. With this information I was able to determine that I wanted a queen size for my king bed as a coverlet; I turned it sideways and it fits perfectly. I'm very impressed with the lightweightness of this spread, just what we wanted. It also is very soft. I chose the blush color and it is a very subtle color and we like it very much. There was no off-gassing smell. We haven't washed it yet. Hoping it doesn't shrink too much.. Barbara. Tucson, AZ. Mon Jun 22 2026

A large Jacobean floral design graces our Chelsea matelasse fabric, for an addition of traditional elegance to any bedroom.

A beautiful piece. Know that the length works IF you don't tuck in the spread under pillows. Width is not sufficient to cover both sides equally to the floor. This could be a function of our king mattress being tall, however. The width is not a problem, however, since only one side of the bed faces the entrance to the bedroom. Color: We got the gold/burgundy. Gold is the operative word, and in certain light, the color is more like a paper bag. In retrospect, we should have chosen the off-white or the brown. To get more variation in the color and to see a little of the burgundy, I flipped the spread on upside down. Now, I can see more variation in the color and a LITTLE of the burgundy. It's just so hard to know for sure what will work when one buys sight unseen.. Lynne. Woodbridge, VA. Tue Mar 01 2022
