King Charles Matelasse Bedspread

Classic style and decorative arts culture: the Charles 100% cotton matelassé bedding collection offers a unique history that incorporates the fine arts and superior craftsmanship of 18th-century England. Designs from the archives of their heritage were interpreted to create the lovely Charles bedspread, which portrays rolling arches, half-moons, double diamonds, and scrolling vine details wrapped around the classic topiary, pheasant, sun, and pineapple motifs. The luxurious fabric offers a generous weight and is stonewashed for softness.

Hugh is a classic matelassé constructed of mercerized cotton for a sleek appearance and hand feel. The all-over stippling design provides subtle interest, and the coverlet is finished with scalloped edge rounded front corners. Matelasse (mat-la-SAY) is a weaving or stitching technique yielding a pattern that appears quilted or padded. Matelass may be achieved by hand, on a jacquard loom, or a quilting machine. It is meant to mimic the style of hand-stitched quilts made in Marseilles, France. It is a heavy, thick textile that appears to be padded, but actually has no padding within the fabric. Our Hugh Matelasse has a soft, pebble-like texture.

I am so happy with my purchase of this bedspread!!! The bedspread is absolutely beautiful in person!!! It was my third purchase to try and find the right look for my room. Most full/queens spreads do not completely cover my queen bed with the proper overhang but this one does. Great Purchase!!! I am in love with this one!!!. Nanette. US. Tue Aug 25 2026
