This is a useful design choice however, applying the same connection system to the ottomans would have made alternative sectional layouts much more stable and practical. This sectional is pretty great for the price in comparison with department store couches it ranks along with much more expensive sectionals. I would say the firmness is a medium firm. Not a super soft feel or not a cloud couch feel either. The chenille fabric is very good quality and the black is a true deep black not a charcoal like other brands models. I like the size and different configurations available. I also like that all the cushions have velcro to attach them in place. The rounded edges of the cushions give it a perfect relaxed feel. Buying a sectional sight unseen using only a fabric swatch and the one or two images available in the listing was stressful. I'm happy I purchased this sectional. I replaced a worn-out entry-level sectional that fit my space perfectly. The challenge was to find a left-hand facing sectional that was very similar in size. This sectional is almost an exact match. It's within an inch in any dimension the same as my old sectional. I got the Sunbrella fabric in Spectrum Indigo. I'm impressed with the build quality of the sectional. Time will tell how well it holds up to everyday wear and tear. (I have two cats) The cushions are on the firm side and the seat is a bit higher than what I was used to but I find it to be very comfortable and wonderful to sleep on. I left one star out because of the screws for the corner seat. They're not long enough so you really got to stuff the alley key in there. Overall the couch is decent and this is a 2-3 person job due to weight. Also a different more precise manual comes in the package than what's on the website. It's very comfortable and has a movie night feel to it. The cushions sink you into the couch almost so all you need is a blanket. Wrist and fingers will hurt from all the twisting but it's worth it. Says a screwdriver is needed but it's not. The alley key is way more useful because of how the screws are shaped at the top. It's a little wide but still fits in my cottage-sized living space. There is a new couch scent so baking soda and vacuuming is a must if you can't stand it but like most new furniture it will eventually dissipate.
