Great and beautiful product, but this type of wood is a softwood. It can be easily chipped or damaged. I still love it just maybe not pet or kid safe. I have two other purchase with this live and other line from Lexington that are amazing, but they get damaged very easily. It wouldn’t stop me from ordering again, but I don’t have pets or kids…. Beautiful Chair! I love the feel and size - it is more substantial than most chairs of this design, so check the dimensions. I will say the coloring in the photo is different than in real life. The leather is more brown than gray and the wood is not a natural white oak color- it has a light brown stain and then kind of a whitewash that lays in the grain on the arms/legs. They look good in my space, but I could definitely see a scenario where the color is different enough to be a deal breaker on the chairs. Beautiful look and color of chair! Traditional style and lines. However I think there is a flaw in the design. Others said in reviews that it was a very deep chair. The bottom cushion is very firm, almost overstuffed and the back cushion is very soft. So when you sit down, you create an opening between the top cushion and bottom cushion of at least 1-2 inches. You can touch the back wood of the chair with your fingers. My low back was not supported at all then. Tried adding a small pillow and that made it somewhat better. Very deep seat which is nice if you’re putting your feet up, but otherwise my feet did not touch the ground (5 ft 6 in). I purchased this chair for my office. I already own a Fairfield chair in a different room which is nearly 20 years old and still looks brand new. Sturdy, solid, good looking, traditional chairs. I'm 5'8" about 140 lbs, but my husband is 6'2" and 300 lbs and both of us can use this chair (the Cabot) comfortably. It's a larger chair but doesn't have a huge footprint, so it can go anywhere. I notice when company comes over, people sit in it. I did request a few fabric samples from Fairfield before ordering, and I'm glad I took that extra step to get exactly what I wanted.
