I haven't seen this quality of tatami mat for sale outside of Japan, especially for the price! They aren't exactly the same as what I had in Japan, but it is very close. Like most reviewers, this mat is not the thickest. We need to put it on our padded area rug to sleep on it overnight, but it's great for watching tv beside my little dog, who isn't allowed on our sofa. This floor mattress is pretty comfortable considering it is only 4 and on the floor. It did not come shrink wrapped, but it seemed way too flat at first I let it air out before making a review. At first, it was only 2 inches, but after a few days out of the plastic wrapping it came in, it is decidedly 4. I guess it was flattened during packaging. Not quite as comfortable as a regular mattress, but it's fine to sleep on. Much easier to move around and store than a regular mattress, though. I like the two sides suited for summer/winter.
