Be aware that the title says 5 liters, but the true SOUP CONTAINER capacity is 3.8 liters. This container is very cute and the recessed handles make it very easy to carry when full. I tested the heat retention using PLAIN WATER...I boiled 3.8 liters of water to the 212 degree boiling point and poured the hot water into the container. I secured the lid. After 3 hrs, I opened the lid for the first time and the water temp dropped from 212 to 174 (an avg of 12 degrees per hour). (For me, 175 is the perfect water temp for tea and coffee.) For the next 5 hours, I checked the temp every hour and each time, the temp dropped by only 5 degrees. So, the water temp dropped an avg of 12 deg per hour in the 1st 3 hours, but only 5 deg per hour thereafter! Apparently, the reason the water cooled much faster in the early hours compared to the later hours is due to "Newton's Law of Cooling." Anyhow, during the course of the 8 hr test (where I only removed the lid to check the temp), the temp dropped from 212 to 148, so the container does a GREAT job of holding the heat. Here are my results for broccoli cheese soup. I filled the container to the near the top with boiling broccoli cheese soup (boiling point was 199 degrees). I didn't open the lid until 5 hours later and the creamy soup was at about 160 degrees, which was a perfect temperature for soup!. Danielle. Tue Jan 27 2026

Bon Chef 3 wall cold wave miracle bowl. Pre-freezing these bowls will keep your food cold for 8 hours at ambient temperature. Outer air chamber prevents the bowl from creating condensation while keeping the inner chamber gel frozen. In Bon Chef's test results, a bowl was put in the freezer until gel was frozen. 35 Degree F, potato salad was placed in the bowl without lid and stirred every 30 minutes. After 8 hours the potato salad was at 38 degree F. Great product for your next picnic or party requiring no ice to keep your food cold. Bon Chef 3 wall cold wave miracle bowl. Pre-freezing these bowls will keep your food cold for 8 hours at ambient temperature. Outer air chamber prevents the bowl from creating condensation while keeping the inner chamber gel frozen. In Bon Chef's test results, a bowl was put in the freezer until gel was frozen. 35 degree F, potato salad was placed in the bowl without lid and stirred every 30 minutes. After 8 hours the potato salad was at 38 degree F. Great product for your next picnic or party requiring no ice to keep your food cold. Handling instructions: Never place your Cold Wave bowl in an oven, microwave or any other heat source this may damage your bowl. Dish washer safe or hand wash. Never use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners. When your Cold Wave bowl is filled with food, you may have to occassionally stir the contents to prevent freezing the food.
