I like the customizable shelves. I love this! It’s so much bigger than the three plastic ones I was using before. I wanted the top one a little lower because I was planning to put all of my, and my significant other Dan’s suitcases. Up on the top shelf. One word of advice. When attaching the top and bottom side supports together. Put a shelf in between the two supports. So that it can be stable when you’re finishing the setup. Plus whatever you put there. Can help stabilize it too. Putting this together by myself. Was pretty easy. Although I wished I had an extra hand sometimes. With how wide it is. But I was able to get it altogether by myself. In four hours, and it was done. I put the bottom prices for the bottom part of the legs in. That say to do first in the directions. To not scratch up the floors. But this was going into the garage. So it really didn’t matter. And our house is very old. So the garage floor is old too. UPDATE The planks were positioned the wrong way initially but upon trying again they all fit, albeit tightly. Once the alignment was settled, the bookshelf was easy to build. Seems very solid and strong for MDF. The metal frame is a good thickness, not too hideously clunky, about 2cm (less than 1 inch.) I have placed a great deal of books on it, including several heavy coffee table books and textbooks. Only time will tell how well it holds. All in all, very pleased with the product and its Bauhaus-look. Would potentially buy another as my library grows. ORIGINAL Top plank measures 10.5inches while the top bar opening measures 9.5inches. Excellent bookshelf with a high-end industrial look I purchased this bookshelf to display books, military memorabilia, family photos, and a few decorative pieces, and it exceeded my expectations. The combination of the wood shelves and black metal frame gives it a clean industrial style that looks much more expensive than the price suggests. Assembly was straightforward and all of the parts fit together properly. Once assembled, the unit felt sturdy and stable, even when loaded with heavier items. I especially like the open design because it doesn’t make the room feel crowded while still providing plenty of storage and display space. The shelf spacing is versatile enough for larger books, collectibles, framed photos, and decorative items. At over 70 inches tall, it creates a strong visual focal point without overwhelming the room. After several months of use, the shelves remain level, the frame is solid, and the finish still looks great.
