I have used tents like this for camping and have never been over the moon about them. I am with this one. It has all the things...optional shade panels on the sides so that you get tons of air and can see all sides around you, windows in the panels to see out of of you have them on, a door that can be fully zipped closed, more than enough height so that even the tallest individuals can stand up fully inside of it, a solid roof, anchors on all sides to tether it to the ground, etc. It really is great. Regarding the setup and take down, I feel it is reasonable so as long as you have two people and you watch your teeth when the various sections pop up and out during assembly or pop inward during takedown. Once you get the base unit popped up and out when setting up, the tent poles go into place to support the door and the panels can be added if desired. The way I describe it sounds incredibly easy, but it was definitely interesting the first time! We were laughing pretty hard. Same during the takedown. I wish we had video of us wandering around our backyard inside of this thing. I think we have setup and takedown figured out now though. Regarding takedown, I wanted to know if all of the optional side panels could be left on and rolled up for storage so that next time you took the tent out, you did not have to put them on. It worked! The tent poles did have to come out though before storage. Not a problem at all though getting the tent into the storage bag with panels on as long as one person was pulling the zipper together and the other was zipping the bag up in short sections. That being said, the zipper on the storage bag is very good as are the zippers on the tent door. I am so very happy with this new addition! I cannot wait to go camping!. Natalie. Newcastle, WA. We used this tent for winter camping in March with a mix of light snow and rain, and overall it performed really well. The 300D Oxford material felt durable.We set it up with a wood-burning stove using the stove jack, and it worked great. I was initially concerned about how close the stove would be to the walls, but the spacing was actually very comfortable and safe.Inside, we were able to fit two twin air mattresses with a storage table in between, which worked perfectly as a side table. With the stove inside, I would say it realistically fits 2 people comfortably (or 1 queen/king mattress). Without the stove, you could likely fit an additional mattress.The awning is a standout feature — having a covered cooking area right outside the tent made a big difference, especially in wet conditions. Definitely worth getting the version with the awning.The only downside is that this “8-person” size does not have the top ventilation that the larger models (10- and 12-person) include. Because of that, we experienced noticeable condensation buildup along the walls. If your bedding touches the sides, it can get damp, so I recommend keeping mattresses slightly away from the walls and bringing a towel to wipe down moisture.One additional tip: if you’re using a wood stove, make sure your chimney pipe extends well above the tent height (ideally 9–10 ft). Mine was a bit shorter, and a few embers caused small, patchable holes in the roof.Overall, I’m very happy with this tent — it’s durable, functional, and worked great for cold-weather camping.
