We are very satisfied with the Farmhouse Murphy Bed. The actual product is well represented online, including the color. It took my husband about 12 hours to assemble by himself. It would go a bit faster with a second person. There were a lot of pieces and he did follow the instructions which were well written. The only reason 4 vs 5 stars due to the following: assembly time (it still would take a while for 2 people to assemble) and the cabinet would look better with screw caps giving it a finished look. No one has slept on it yet, but assume it will be fairly comfortable for guests. We would have gone with a thicker mattress but followed the guidelines to make sure the cabinet would close. The slats seem to support the mattress. We hope the mattress does not slide around too much once someone tries to sleep on it. The bed does have to be weighted down to keep it from rising off the floor if no one is on the bed. See photos showing foot of bed not weighted down and weighted down with ankle weights. We plan to place a side table to offer a night stand. The small shelf looks a bit flimsy, so we will be cautious. I am not very tall and was able to open and close with ease. It works exactly how we expected it to. It does take quite a bit of time to set up. It has a lot of moving parts. However, it works very well stores into it extremely small space and the mattress is pretty comfortable. We bought a mattress topper for it and it will be perfect for our spare bedroom. The design is pretty cool. It’s only about 4 feet tall so it does look like a dresser in my studio. Having the charging station is pretty great, I wish that it had power on both sides, and I also wish that the plug was longer and flat because it forces me to push the unit away from the wall, which is not ideal on the small space but it does work and we ran and extension cord to make sure it can all work. Overall, for the sale price, this is an excellent piece and we hope to get a lot of use out of it! One last thing, like most inexpensive furniture, it’s not going to move houses well. This unit was exactly what I needed for the space. I was worried that the wood color would be too yellow, but its not, its a neutral beige and doesnt clash with the flooring. This Murphy bed is absolutely beautiful! It’s also very heavy duty. I had someone put it together and she did it in about 3 hours so not bad at all. The leather handles don’t serve any purpose when it comes to pulling the bed out or putting it away. The leather part for the straps isn’t even attached and comes straight out when you try to grab the straps. Not a deal breaker though. The only other thing I’ve had an issue with is the latches that hook everything together. I was so skeptical about purchasing this bed because of the price point. It was a really good price. And I was worried that it was going to be cheaply made or pieces broken when we got it, or it wouldn’t fit together the way it’s supposed to. It took my Handyman about eight hours to put it together. We took 3 days to assemble fully. Quality is nice, however, instructions are not always clear. Some steps should come before others for easier assembly. There are very limited written instructions which make it confusing. We had to drill holes in one piece ourselves to assemble properly. We were told to raise legs on the cabinet if installing on carpet, now the doors don't reach the top of the cabinet. Can't go back and lower them now, because the unit is attached to the wall. We added some padding in the door hooks to raise them a tad, now it's at least functional. More explanation is needed for a lot of these steps. Overall it will definitely serve it's purpose.. Susan. This is perfect for the small space I have. It’s an eye catcher and makes the room appear much larger than it is. Sophisticated and Chic! I did have to hire a professional to put it together and it took them quite a while 4/5 hours but it’s well worth it!
