Marly is linen velvet, woven in four chains on complex looms featuring a lush, all-over foliage design. The light relief effect is created by the different methods of treating the velvet: cut and uncut. The fabric is particularly suitable for upholstery. This velvet is inspired by the tapestry "verdure" of the period and named after Louis XIV’s preferred castle located near Paris. The landscape architect for Château de Marly had created paths through the woods lined by trellis in order to contain the exuberance of the robust trees that filled the grounds. Pulling inspiration from these wonderful woods and tapestries of the time, Colony created the beloved Marly design. Marly is in a coordinating linen blend fabric and is offered in sophisticated, two-earth tone colorways.

Royal Delft Flora & Fauna is inspired by the iconic Dutch tulips associated with stately Royal Delft Tulipieres. Tulips were in cultivation since the 13th century, but only really became a passion of collectors among aristocrats in the 1600s’ when Turkish traders introduced them to the Dutch. The tulip craze in the 17th century became so fevered that the bulbs were traded as currency, and theft of the flowers triggered harsh penalties. Mixed with simple wildflowers and scattered in all directions, Flora & Fauna is considered a symbol of happiness and joie de vivre! Flora & Fauna pays homage to artist Vittorio Accornero, whose ‘Giardini di seta’ works for Gucci inspired a generation.

Originally designed in 1945 for Gino of Capri restaurant, affectionately known as “Gino’s” by New Yorkers, Scalamandré restored the Zebras wallcovering at this iconic Upper East Side establishment in 1973 after the walls were damaged by fire. Flora Scalamandré, wife of Franco Scalamandré, skillfully hand-drew the signature motif, which would later become the renowned Scalamandré Zebras design. This lively pattern depicts two Zebras prancing around politely placed arrows set against a lively colored ground. The playful and captivating design instantly captivated audiences, quickly joining the product line and ultimately achieving fame through appearances in notable films such as Wes Anderson’s “The Royal Tenenbaums”.

Absolutely loved it! Not super easy to do as a first time wallpaper. It runs the risk of stretching and developing air bubbles, so have the necessary tools on hand, and it’ll work like a charm. This pillow is made with an old-world weaver classic, fables-Jawahar crewel. Made in classic crewel form, this design is a hand-crocheted embroidery fabric featuring whimsical creatures and accompanying botanicals on top of a neutral ground. Originally curated for the old world weavers line by iris Apfel herself, fables have withstood the test of time and remain a favorite within the brand.

Based on an early 18th-century French document, Chinoise Exotique is a grand design depicting Chinese figures hunting exotic Indian animals. This pattern is a classic example of the kinds of chinoiserie patterns developed for export to the European market in the early 1700s. These fabrics became so popular that France passed a law banning them from sale out of fear that they would collapse the French textile market.

Palampores, or "Tree of Life" patterns, have their origins in India, where the exotic designs were hand painted and mordant dyed, and exported to Europe and England for use as elaborate bed hangings and curtains. Pondicherry, now offered as a wallcovering, the colorways remain true to their 90's origins, highlighting the iconic filigree pattern amidst the exotic tree of life motif. The colorways were developed in 2015, with the filigree omitted from the fabric design. These wallcoverings and colorways remain true to the fabric's original design. Intricately detailed flowers and lush foliage accompanied by whimsical birds and playful squirrels add to its timeless appeal. The vertically branching print is perfect for a cozy breakfast nook, kitchen, or powder room.

In 18th-century Europe, Indian-dyed cloths known as Palampores were prized as hand-printed bed coverings and wall hangings. The inspiration for our pattern is a palampore featuring a flower-and-fruit-bearing serpentine tree emerging from a hillock with stylized peaks. Originally sourced to Sri Lanka, it was likely made for European communities in Batavia and Colombo, or for families of mixed European and Asian descent wishing to emulate Western taste. The Metropolitan Palampore print features an elemental design depicting a flower-and-fruit-bearing tree digitally printed on a cotton-and-linen blend. This pattern is also available in a complementary wallpaper and mural in various colorways. This modern cut velvet features a dimensional weave and richly textured surface, which creates an undulating, pleated effect to the shaded geometric design. The shimmering viscose pile is accented with a bright thread of color, and the velvet is rippled via a shrink yarn on its backside, creating stability for tight upholstery applications. It adds a glamorous contemporary accent to any interior, on chairs, benches, and settees.
