The final product fits great in our guest room/office! It took 3 days to build with 2 people (we definitely had to call in a 3rd for when we had to connect the 2 main pieces together). This could have taken a shorter time to build if the instruction booklet was a lot more explicit and if the parts were better labeled. Also, we had to open all 4 boxes to find the parts we needed for each step of the process - this was a major obstacle because of space constraints (the whole reason why we needed a Murphy Bed was because the room was small). The product description is not explicit on the mattress thickness - in the installation manual it says 8" max, but I got a 9.5" thick mattress and it still works. It was worth it because we got it on sale, but I wish there were pre-installation instructions so we could have been better prepared (i.e. I wish we knew to get better/longer hex keys, screwdrivers or drill bits that can fit into tight corners, the correct hardware for bracketing this to the wall, clamps and levels, etc.).. This Murphy Bed comes in several heavy boxes with a lot of pieces. So it's definitely my recommendation to hire a professional to put it together to save you time and to ensure the product is assembled properly with anchoring to the wall for security. I must say it came together beautifully and will fit our needs for additional modern style storage and sleep space when we have overnight guests. The material is somewhat sturdy manufactured wood which is only noticeable up close. The frame will definitely only fit a 10 inch mattress or less. We tried a 12 in and the main door will not close. As many have mentioned, it would have been great to have shelves inside the cabinet but if you're handy you can easily install some for more storage. I have been shopping around for a quality Murphy bed for quite some time and almost bought a $4000 model but I'm glad I was able to save once I found this one for a fraction of the cost. This unit perfectly utilized a tiny 8x10 “bedroom” in my 126-year-old house. I use it as a multi-purpose guest room (for one) and craftoffice area. It’s super resourceful and space-saving which I love and wouldn’t have otherwise conceived would be possible given how tiny the room is. That being said It’s a great deal for what you get, but what you get is a fully occupied weekend for AT LEAST two people, and that’s if you’re familiar with assembling furniture, which I am. This was hands-down the most tedious and time-consuming piece I’ve ever assembled—however, I expected that to be the case and prepared myself for it. I would advise separating all the parts by step (hardware especially) beforehand to prevent stupid mistakes like using screws on step 37 that were meant to be used on step 13. Every detail matters. I am single but I can see how this project could potentially end in divorce. All in all, it’s a great piece for the money—just prepare yourself for not just hours, but DAYS of labor. Highly recommend for the patient DIY folks. The instructions aren’t great but they rarely are. Fortunately there are QR codes on each step which link to videos showing the guys in the factory assembling it. This bed is not constructed of real wood as it states in the description. It is a fiberboard product. I paid extra for this bed because it said it was made from real wood. I was very dissatisfied to learn its fiberboard. I do not trust its durability with daily use as I intend to use it. I purchased the warranty to be on the safe side. Wayfair refunded me a part of my purchase price but still not enough to make up for discrepancy. I had it assembled by a professional.
