This product is ok. It's a little tough to work with, not very flexible and comes wrapped in a coil, like a snake. You have to let it soften up and unwind it before you can work with it. Use your hands to get it to conform to the wood planks. I used drywall screws to hold it in place. Since it was in the ceiling you can't see the screws. I don't think that glue would have worked, too much resistance. It's really expensive for what it actually is, which is a strip of rubber with knobs on it, but it does the job of hiding the seams in my wood ceiling beams and pretending to be wrought iron straps.. This beam is constructed out of ¾” thick Aspen wood and is 6 1/2" tall. You choose the length and depth. Each piece of wood is unique and will have more or less character/knots than the other. It is designed to look like a solid beam without weight. The distressed beams are painted either black or white and have the edges sanded over and a brown stain/wax applied for a distressed look. The distressed beams will not be a solid color. Easy to install utilizing a French cleat mounting bracket which is included. Screws are not included. You will need to purchase 3" screws for the application you will be attaching the bracket to. Wood is considered a combustible material. Heat clearances must be adhered to. If installing over a fireplace, check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove.

These rustic barn beam fireplace mantels are made from solid rough-sawn pine timbers. Each barn beam mantel is meticulously hand-sanded to preserve the saw marks and finished with our custom antique oak stain. Our antique oak stain gives these timbers a darker chocolate brown/espresso color. These barn beam mantels are Not Reclaimed but rather offered as an alternative to avoid common issues found with reclaimed material. These modern barn beam timbers provide the same rustic appeal as traditional reclaimed barn beam mantels but offer the security of insect and mold-free wood.
