The edges of the veneer are the same color as the surface and they all meet perfectly wirh no abberations or gaps. I am extremely picky when it comes to art accents having worked in picture framing and in galleries and I am very pleased with the appearance of this pedestal. I bought it to showcase a fine 31 inch tall antique bronze statue and I am 100% satisfied with its proportion and looks.
