The wood is smooth but dry, so I used “Old English” wood oil to condition the bench and it soaked it right up and looks amazing. It fits perfectly in my small bedroom at the foot of my queen bed. I really like this bench. It is much darker than the pic. The 60 inch was perfect for where we have it. There's no finish so it looks rustic. Pretty straight forward to assemble. It came with the bench broken on one end and Wayfair was amazing handling the issue. I easily created a case on their web chat and within an hour I got a response. Wayfair asked for pics. They immediate passed the case to the manufacturer. The manufacturer almost immediately responded as well. They sent a replacement part which we haven't had a chance to look at it.
