Assembly of this bench requires absolutely no tools as it completely snaps together. We did use a soft mallet to tap the pieces in place. It takes two people to hold pieces in place while you’re snapping them. Don’t try to assemble this by yourself. I’m not sure how waterproof it is because I am keeping it under a covered patio. The directions were awful. The parts are labeled, but the lettering was black on black so it took us over 10 minutes just to locate the black lettering on black. This 81 year old grandmother snapped this thing together in record time ( easy instructions), stuffed three large chaise cushions inside and escaped the torrential downpour that followed. Assembly was a snap (literally) until you reach snapping E into B. Not sure if my unit had a bent piece, but I had to end up using a hammer a mallet and pull panel B back to snap E into B. This part was very frustrating and it took me longer than it should have but eventually, I figured it out hence minus one star.
