Positives: This is a nice solid, heavy, and attractive desk. It fits perfectly in a corner of my one-bedroom apartment living room. It was fairly easy to assemble, which I did myself, as a small-framed, lightweight woman. To add the shelf, it really needs two people. One holding it up in the air, and one adding the screws. I used a kitchen trash can to support the shelf in place. Attaching it to the legs first was much easier than the instructions to attach the shelf to the back panel first. It was very thoroughly packed to avoid damage. So, there is a lot of packaging to dispose of. I like the desk overall.
Negatives: (1) Comes in only one color, which is more of a dark cherry-red. My color scheme is honey oak, and I knew it would be too dark. However, there were only two other corner desks with pull-out keyboard drawers that I liked. They have wood legs and come in the same color. As it has to be right next to the TV console, the wood colors clash. I purchased this item with the black metal legs so as to have less of the desk's wood showing next to the TV console, and as I have a dining table with black metal legs. This didn't help avoid color clashing very much. Especially once I added the antique dark wood chair to the desk, which matches the desk pretty good, but too much dark wood for a small room for my liking. I'll likely replace the chair for an office chair in an aqua color to match my ocean theme and brighten it up. (2) The handle on the drawer hangs on my thighs. I'm going to replace it. (3) The keyboard moves around when typing, so I placed some fabric coasters underneath it. (4) The drawer is not wide enough to accommodate a keyboard with a number pad and a mouse pad. Thus, the mouse is sliding around on the slick wood. I folded some fabric to make a cushion for my wrist. It keeps falling off the pull-out drawer. Too many concessions.. Kimberly. Carlsbad, CA.
