These are the best lights! We do not use all of the functions that are available. We just leave them to the basic on position. They go on automatically just as it gets dark. You can change the timing to go off after a certain amount of time, I just haven't done that yet. They look so pretty and give off just the right amount of light. Box was opened and they did not work but eventually we opened the battery and realized the spring was out of place so the lights were not charging. At dusk, they literally pop up and light up, giving you lights along a pathway, driveway, deck, or dock that aren't in your way during the day. Prior to first use, charge the light for two sunny days. If battery capacity reduces over time, switch the light off for 3-5 sunny days in order to boost the batteries.
