This is really much more sturdy than I expected. Like, the thought crossed my mind to use it as a stool, but then that didn't seem useful. FYI there are 9 height options (per the peg placements available) per side, but each side only has 5 little shelves. I guess if you wanted to get creative and it suited your purposes, you could put 9 shelves on one side and have 11 mostly very short shelves on one side and then only 1 shelf on the other side with very wide (relatively) vertical spacing.
