The legs were easy to put on (although the diagram was incorrect on the order of the locking washer and regular washer). The trunk is as it looks. Hinges seem strong but even if they weren't, the wood is so light that it wouldn't hurt fingers. If you are looking for a solid piece of furniture, this isn't it.
