These were perfect! I actually drilled holes in the wood on top of my pool fence and set them through the holes about 6 feet apart and on either side of the gateway ,instead of putting them in the ground, and it looks really cool at night. Edit despite being cheaply made they really do put off a nice flame like glow. For that we love them. One was broken when I opened the package. They are very cheaply made. They are charging in the sun. Ill know soon how the lighting is. I recently ordered 2 other types of solar lights and paid about half of what these cost. These lanterns are beautiful! I got the bronze. They are well made with attention to detail. The instructions state to charge them for 6 hours. I received them at 3:45 pm. My apartment faces east, and the sun was already over my apartment building, no longer on my balcony or coming in any windows. I set them on the balcony receiving only daylight. At dark, they lit right up full power. So, either they were already charged, or the daylight was adequate for charging. I get only about 3 hours of sun on my balcony due to trees and the building east of mine being higher on a ridge and blocking sun at times , so they have never been charged for 6 hours straight.
