I prefer the low backs as my dining table floats in my room. These chairs are like a dining room version of a club or game table chair, which is perfect for our home. These chairs make sitting around the table a pleasure. Comfortable for dining, the long conversation that may continue at the table when guests are over, and sitting for long periods to play games. There's enough room in the seat to adjust your position for those long sits and the cushion is just enough to pad but offer support. And bonus, they are really attractive with a pretty color. We just purchased 6 of these. They appear to be very sturdy, easily holding my 260-pound weight. The seat is definitely on the firm side and low to the ground, but for a dining chair this works for well. Being a large person, I was also happy to see the armrests were over an inch on each side of me, so these chairs are large enough for almost anyone! The armrests are thin and hard like they appear, but I do not consider this a bad thing for a dining chair since they appear strong, and their thinness still provides extra support while keeping the middle roomy. An added bonus is the material looks easy to clean and while the padding is firm, it also looks thick and durable, just like the rest of the chair. These look exactly like the photo. I get a lot of complements on them and people asking where I got them.... however, the throw pillow is cheap looking and the faux leather is obviously that.... This chair is beautiful and comfortable. Two observations are keeping me from the 5 star rating: 1) when you sit on it, you feel it "yields" a bit, so it doesn't feel as sturdy as you would like, 2) the rubber ends on the legs stain the floors easily and become lose easily/often.
