When space is limited, the half umbrella provides the same great shade and features as a standard umbrella, flush against a wall or side of a house. The easily tilts front to back with a simple push of a button and easily closes with a turn of a knob.

Pretty good umbrella. One of the few half umbrellas with adjustable height and tilt (somewhat) that I could find. I have experienced the same problem as other reviewers in that if I open the umbrella according to the instructions, it wont stay open. Once I realized that I should open it from the back, pushing down on the center piece (see picture), rather than pulling down on the bottom rails, I was golden. Try opening it like you would a rain umbrella and make sure it clicks into place firmly. Otherwise, the size and shape offer us flexibility. We even open it and leave it vertical to block our large picture window to keep out the heat/sun (see picture). Want to buy another to cover another angle/patio door, but they are out of stock.... This is by far the best market umbrella I’ve ever owned. I opted for the sunbrella fabric as it’s heavier than the other fabrics I’ve owned in the past (and did not last as long).This umbrella has a bronze colored pole and is operated by a hand crank although it does have an auto tilt feature. The auto tilt is amazing as you slowly keep cranking after the umbrella is fully extended, the auto tilt engages and the umbrella will automatically tilt. Once you start cranking in the opposite direction to close the umbrella, the auto tilt disengages and the umbrella stands upright so you can finish closing it. Fantastic purchase! First think is this is big and tall. Be prepared to get a lot of sand. I bought 300lbs. and it took it like nothing. Locate and place base begore filling for sure. The umbrella itself is wonderful. It is beautiful and covers a large area and just looks luxurious. It opens abd closes with ease. The 360 degree turning is also easy and a great feature.
