The underside of the cushions is not upholstered. Seams are obvious generally, but especially so around the nail-head assembly of the arms. If your looking for a plump rolled arm that's nice to lay your head on, this will disappoint -- as will the interior padding and throw pillows. The pillow-fringe is sparse. The fabric feels thin and rough to the touch. It's advertised as a synthetic/cotton mix, but it's hard to feel the cotton. Not a piece around which to center a room or color-scheme. Positively IN LOVE with these sofas! Firm enough for me, soft enough for my husband. I’ve sat on countless sofas at furniture stores and immediately popped up with a “Nope!” So naturally I was nervous at 2k a pop, no cancels or returns and a front door that wasn’t quite 36” wide as needed per the delivery specs. They had the look I wanted which no local store seemed to carry, totally washable which is a must with large dogs so I took a chance- and oh am I glad I did.
