This arrived well packaged with no issues. It is heavy duty. Its made up of 4 glass panels with corner connectors you attach yourself using a Philips screwdriver. There are heat resistant feet that hold it up about an inch for an air gap needed by the burners. I would not use my firepit without it since it protects those sitting near from the flames blowing their direction, or being blow out. I love this. The frame fit my gas fire pit top perfect. It is just the right height for viewing the fire but not allowing too much heat-to-heat drinks setting next to the glass. The design is really nice for attaching the glass panels at the 90-degree angles. The hardware is solid, and not prone to 'stripping' out. There are little legs on the bottoms of each corner hardware, with a little rubber foot. The is nice because the glass itself is setting up (and not on) the mantel surface. It was very carefully packaged, so I imagine this small chip was present when it was packed. Because of the assembly it is not noticeable, and I’m hoping doesn’t affect the life of the unit in a negative way.
