The bed is definitely all hard wood. It’s not the type of hardwood you could sand and refinish in the future. It also arrived without any broken pieces. It’s a pretty bed, but we are giving it a 45 because we wanted something subtle. The bed is kind of big and the headboard is massive. We’ve actually purchased this bed frame twice this year! We first bought the queen size for ourselves and were very happy with it. A couple of months later, we decided to upgrade to a king-size bed, so we gave the queen frame to our son and purchased the exact same bed frame again in king size. We love the quality. It’s made from solid wood, feels sturdy and well-made. It works with our new 16-inch-high mattress and adjustable base, although the headboard does look a little short with such a tall mattress and base. That’s something to keep in mind if you have a similar setup. Overall, we’re very happy with this bed frame. The fact that we liked it enough to buy it twice says it all. We are pretty happy with the platform bed. Very protected in the box. The instructions were only pics, which was easy to understand. I used a drill to attach the bolts and over tighten them and one started to come through the other side on the headboard. Totally my fault. The bed itself is well made and pretty solid.. Marianne.
