I had three garage freezers before, and they died because they were not designed for the garage. This one understands the assignment. It can get hot in my garage and it works anyway. My other models died after 1-2 years. I pack this with discounted bulk buy meat from a central CA market I found. I wrap them in smaller meal sizes and store it for gradual use. We took a road trip from PA to SC last week, and I followed the pre chilling suggestions (set both sections to -4° for a minimum of 3-4 hours before filling) from the reviews.. I adjusted one section to 34° after I filled the refrigerated food while leaving the the frozen food set to -4°. I did add a few freezer blocks to the tops of both sections before we closed the lids. On the trip down we stayed overnight in a hotel halfway to SC.. To my delight our food was in perfect condition when we unpacked it!! Ordered this is dark grey and it is absolutely perfect. Its by chance that I found this because we had already ordred one from a big box store that was delayed on the shipping for six months. I was so frustrated and started to look elsewhere. We were limited because the custom cabinets were already installed and there was no way we were going to pull them out. Then I found this fridge.
