I did not purchase this to use as a desk. I needed a corner vanity and did not want to spend a lot of money. This was perfect for the budget and worked out great! The directions were very straightforward and easy to follow with the exception of the final step of placing the top shelving to the bottom base. The two sections in the corner as I show in the picture want to separate. This requires two people. I assembled this by myself and it took several hours. It is a great piece of furniture for a gaming desk or to use as a vanity. The light strip is a straight continuous wire and does not have an L shape to allow for the corner and sticks out. There are a couple of things to be aware of: 1) Although easy to do, there are many pieces to assemble, so count on maybe 2-3 hours of time to fully assemble the desk, hutch and all of the drawers. 2) Given the type of coated particle board construction that is used, there were some small blemishes on corners/ends of a few of the pieces. Looks great and functional. Only negatives I would say are the two bases/cabinets are not fully functional. The metal legs/posts go right through it in the middle so you only get about half of the cabinet to use, unless you throw small stuff in the back. The bottom of the beams/legs are also not secured to the cabinets so when you set this up, make sure to position it exactly where you want to. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pain to Assemble — But 100 Worth It! I purchased two of these desks for our homeschool room, and now that they’re finished, I absolutely love them. They are beautiful, substantial, have tons of storage, and feel very sturdy. The white finish with the darker wood top looks even better in person. Fair warning though assembly is a PROJECT. The first desk took us about 5 hours, and even knowing exactly what we were doing, the second still took about 4 hours. I would absolutely recommend having two people, plenty of space, and a whole lot of patience. That being said, the instruction manual was surprisingly clear and helpful. There are simply a LOT of pieces and steps involved. Once assembled, though Worth it. They look like much more expensive pieces of furniture and completely transformed our homeschool room. I especially love all of the drawers, cabinets, shelving, and built-in desktop outlets. If you’re willing to survive the assembly process, I highly recommend them. I DO recommend the desk as long as you can accept the "CONS" I list. CONS; 1. IMPORTANT, The ledge is not wide enough to safely/securely place the stand of larger monitors. Unless you use a monitor arm I would not recommend this desk if you use anything above a 24" external monitor. 2. The 20" depth might be just a little too short if you are using a laptop with the lid open and an external monitor placed on the desk or ledge. 3. LEDs are not nearly as bright as pictures show. SO-SO The soft side drawers work but not something to brag about. I expected this so wasn't surprised. PROs I'm impressed at how sturdy it is for a light weight desk. Assembly was fairly straight forward as were the instructions that are pretty well written. Everything fit together well and assembly took less than 2 hours with two people. Finals thoughts. If you are using an external monitor I would suggest you consider NOT installing the ledge and use a monitor arm to get the most useable desk space. I did keep the ledge but might remove it later.. What an upgrade to any space you place this desk! It elevates the look to your room and it’s beautiful. I’m not going to lie, this took my husband and I roughly 4 hours to put together.
