This is my second chicken coop from Wayfair. Unlike the first one, the instructions on putting this coop together were excellent but the instructions for installing the mesh were lacking. (Unclear on how to wrap the coopdoor section). I had to buy a lot of extra zip ties. The stake hole location could be improved. Sometimes the stake holes are blocked from the coop frame. Overall, this chicken coop is a bit of a mixed bag. Assembly wasn’t overly difficult, but the instructions could definitely be clearer. I ended up having to backtrack and redo a few steps because some of the diagrams were confusing. This is absolutely a two-person job, and it helps if at least one of you isn’t afraid of heights because there are several overhead pieces to install. One thing I do like is that the wire mesh has a plastic coating, which should help prevent rust and extend the life of the enclosure. Unfortunately, the wire itself is much thinner than I expected. I don’t feel confident that it would keep determined predators out, so I would recommend reinforcing it with heavier-gauge hardware cloth if you’re planning to house chickens or other vulnerable animals. Overall, the frame goes together fairly easily once you figure out the instructions, but the quality of the wire keeps this from being a great value in my opinion. Great Size and Sturdy Chicken Run I’m really happy with this chicken coop run! It’s a great size and gives my chickens plenty of room to move around, scratch, and enjoy being outside. This cage was 'as expected', seems pretty sturdy and was pretty straight forward and easy to put together. Took a little time, I did it by myself, but all the screws and brackets seem solid. using it for a rooster that we need to keep away from the other roosters, so it fulfills our need--with one major flaw. Now, I knew this going in and we remedied it on our own with zip ties and chicken wire, but be aware that the only roof is the vinyl/tent top and that tent top will not keep out a raccoon or other eager predator in any way. We have a tiny 2 x2 coop inside this run that we can lock at night, but do add some kind of chicken wire under the canopy if you plan to rely on it for safety, which can easily be done before you put the canopy on. I wish it came with a secure roof, but from what I am seeing, none of these come with a solid roof, so this will have to do, and it seems to be working out for us.. Daniel. Bloomington, IN. Yay, one step closer to getting our chickens!! We live in the country, so we wanted to make sure our girls would be safe while also making sure they have dedicated shade in our hot summers, and this is perfect. While this was pretty straightforward to put together, just know, you will become one with the zip ties. If you think, "there is no way we'll use that many zip ties", trust me, you will. A tip, once you get the frame up and you're ready to start putting up the wire, have a second person, but don't work on different parts, connect one part of the wire, then work your way to the other side before the other person starts on anything. You'll want someone on the outside of the run and someone inside to do adjustments (stretching and holding the wire, etc). If you try to do both sides at once, you'll have to redo parts...hopefully this helps save you a potential headache. Once it's up, it's great, the shade cloth really makes a big difference in heat!.
