I love raw oysters and was curious how these might work. I have a regular oyster shucker but it is big, heavy and bulky. This set looked attractive and to be easy for each person to use individually. But I wanted to try one set out myself first. I have not yet purchased oysters to test (not the easiest item to find fresh in Denver CO!) but I am very impressed with how the tools appear to work. You have a silicone gripper and a beautiful, double-edged knife for inserting to pry them apart. The set is quite attractive in appearance and unique, as well. Even though this set is made in China (Laguiole is the name of a French town, so the design and name are not trademark protected), the quality is high. Avoid using any form of chlorine bleach which will discolor stainless steel. Dry immediately.
