I bought this to organize my craft items. The shelves arrived disassembled in a box. The directions were pretty clear once I read it through and was able to determine what was meant because the pieces were all separated and labeled logically. I was able to assemble the shelving unit by myself within about a half hour. The shelving unit is much heavier and sturdier than I expected and I am very happy with the quality. For the price, these are great little bookshelves. The white shelving is particleboard with melamine and the outer end brackets and rear crossbars are metal with a polished chrome finish. There are round rubber legs on the base and the top caps. This was very easy to assemble with simple screws and an Allen wrench. I ordered 2 shelves for my office and each one took about 15 mins. to assemble. I am an Architect + Interior Designer and I needed simple shelves to house material samples and keep them organized in my office.
