Frederick Frame

Flaming June is a painting by Sir Frederic Leighton, produced in 1895. Painted with oil paints on a 47-by-47-inch (1,200 mm × 1,200 mm) square canvas, it is widely considered to be Leighton's magnum opus, showing his classicist nature. It is thought that the woman portrayed alludes to the figures of sleeping nymphs and naiads the Greeks often sculpted. Flaming June disappeared from view in the early 1900s and was rediscovered only in the 1960s. It was auctioned shortly after, during a period of time known to be difficult for selling Victorian era paintings, where it failed to sell for its low reserve price of US$140 (the equivalent of $1,126 in modern prices). After the auction, it was promptly purchased by the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where it currently resides.

This beautiful woman, fast asleep in the brilliant light of a summer afternoon, epitomizes both artist Lord Frederic Leighton's style and his reputation as the dominant figure in Victorian art. Considered to be Leighton's magnum opus, Flaming June is a sumptuous work rendered in luxuriant color and meticulous detail. The Oleander branch in the top right, symbolizes the fragile link between sleep and death. The authentic stretched canvas replica captures the original painting's texture, depth of color, and even its brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. This touching portrait of Eleanor Beatrice Townsend, painted by Sir John Everett Millais in 1881, captures the grace and innocence of youth with remarkable sensitivity. "Flaming June" (1895) by Frederic Leighton is a vibrant, sensuous depiction of a woman in a state of restful repose. The subject, draped in a flowing orange-red gown, lies gracefully against a backdrop of soft blue and green, evoking a sense of tranquility and warmth. The composition is known for its striking use of color, with the fiery hue of the dress contrasting beautifully with the cooler tones of the surroundings. Leighton’s mastery of detail and his ability to capture the female form in an elegant, almost ethereal way make this painting one of his most celebrated works.

The frame isn't all wood at all. The quality of the print is mediocre. Worth 25 bux, not 115.. Anonymous. Wed Aug 19 2026

Renoir made a trip to Italy in 1881-82 and was deeply influenced by Renaissance art. After this trip he began to explore a new manner of painting, different from impressionism. He started to emphasize contours and modeling, abandoned the principle that scenes should be painted outdoors to capture light and atmosphere. Late in the summer of 1883, Renoir spent about a month in St. Peter Port, the capital of Guernsey, and admired the rocks, cliffs and stunning view of Moulin Huet Bay in St. Martin. He painted the starts of fifteen pictures during his stay, most of which were finished later in his Paris studio. Guernsey lies 48 km off the coast of mainland Normandy. Both share the same geology and Guernsey fulfills the "by the sea" criterion in the exhibition title. However, By the Seashore is thought to have been painted in the artist's studio. The beach depicted here is probably not in the Channel Islands but near Dieppe, on the Normandy coast. The model was Aline Charigot, his then girlfriend, whom he married in 1890. The arc of the sitter's dark eyebrows and saucily tilted nose in that pleasant, rosy-cheeked face are common to works by Renoir.

Pavonia means peacock in Italian and in this painting, Leighton brilliantly compares the resplendent beauty of one of his models, Nanna Risi, to the showy splendor of a peacock. Leighton is renowned for the dreamlike vividness and exotic symbolism in his Pre-Raphaelite works and the beauty of his Victorian models. As an English Academic and classical artist, Leighton drew inspiration from classical art, mythology, and legends. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. Woman walks with her 2 girls on Boston street at twilight.

Monet planted gardens wherever he lived and in his rented home in Vetheuil, he made arrangements with the landlord to landscape the terraces that led to the Seine. On the path, brilliant sunlight and dappled shade briefly reflect the faces of Monet's young son and members of his extended household amidst the large flowerpots the artist took to each home in which he ever lived. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. With bas-relief organic styling, the multi-tiered, replica European style 3.25" wide frame is cast in quality designer resin and highlighted with an aged gold-toned finish. The painting, in vertical format, shows a close-up view of Christ's disciples struggling frantically against the heavy storm to regain control of their fishing boat.

Dating from a key period in Monet's career, this work features a scene from his home town of Le Havre on the Normandy coast. This serene view captures the original Musee de Beaux-Arts. Tragically, it was destroyed in World War II, and a modern structure now stands in its place. Between 1872 and 1873 he painted several views of the harbor at Le Havre, including the most famous "Impression: Sunrise," the painting that coined the term "Impressionism". The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. The replica 3.125" wide, European style frame is cast in quality designer resin in a deep ebony hue highlighted by a faux mat and a classic, understated border in an antique gold finish. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.
