Stoner worked closely with Albert Ruger, whose collection was purchased by the Library of Congress in 1941 and contained some of the most prominent panoramic maps of cities across America. Colorado Springs began annexing the surrounding cities to form a larger municipality in the 1880s and, by the turn of the century, had grown to more than twenty-thousand residents.
