This sectional is pretty great for the price in comparison with department store couches it ranks along with much more expensive sectionals. I would say the firmness is a medium firm. Not a super soft feel or not a cloud couch feel either. The chenille fabric is very good quality and the black is a true deep black not a charcoal like other brands models. I like the size and different configurations available. I also like that all the cushions have velcro to attach them in place. The rounded edges of the cushions give it a perfect relaxed feel. (Update) After 5-6 weeks of owning, the back piece on the chaise side broke and now can't be leaned on/doesn't line up with the rest. This happened when leaning back, very gentle/normal use; did not exceed weight capacity. I wasn’t 100 sure when ordering that this was the sofa for us, but in person it has met every requirement! I hope writing this review helps someone else who may be on the fence. The color is beautiful and neutral, and the material feels high end. The extendable backs are cool. During the day we keep it smaller because I prefer the look, but for lounging or movie watching we push them back, it’s easy to do, feel sturdy, and the mechanism works seamlessly. This couch is AWFUL to put together. The holes are even in the right spots on some. Without the legs on, while unpacking, it scratched up my new kitchen floors. I ended up not even putting the legs on because the screws aren't long enough for the holes and after hours of trying I ended up having to build a wood platform for the couch so the bottom wouldn't scratch my floors anymore. The couch I was shipped doesnt even look the same as the picture- the pillows are flat, and I'm going to have to buy inserts. Its also a completely different color than the couch in the ad.
