It has several power choices for the light, a weighted base, and an electrical plug for power. I intentionally chose this light because I thought it would provide more light for sewing and it absolutely does! I love this lamp. I had one that I have had for serval years that was in my home office. I wanted to move this into my bedroom next to our nightstands, once I did so I knew this was exactly the look I was wanting in there.
