This is a handcrafted hollow fireplace mantel. Our mantels are hand-made with love and passion. These mantels are as beautiful as they are useful, robust, light, and elegant. The distressed look is achieved by hand with attention to detail. As a result, no two beams are the same and your beam will be one-of-a-kind. Overall, this is a nice shelf. I am using it as a console ledge near the front entry. The tone is a bit warmer than I would like and than what the pictures show. The way the instructions have you hang it leaves screw hole plugs on the top which ruins the look so instead, I hung the ledger board and then attached the shelf with construction adhesive and finish nails..
