The process begins with recording an amazing voice in a spaciously beautiful monastery in Alcobaca (pronounced al-ku-ba-sa), Portugal. A computer program first maps the coordinates for the base of the design and then allows the sound of the voice to create the shape that builds from there. Once completed, the digital design is 3D printed into a mold that's used to create slip-molded ceramic vases. The vessels are available in a white finish as a tribute to the monastery's Cistercian aesthetic, which prohibited all colored and patterned stained glass. Only colorless stained glass was allowed for light to pass through as clean, pure, and white providing tranquility and calmness. Cadence Vase-White is crafted in Portugal out of fine ceramic. Created using a 3D printing machine, each piece has wonderful texture from the extruded clay. Inspired by the delicate forms of ocean coral. 1. Manufacturing Process Using traditional hand-blown technique + multi-layer color overlay gradient process: First, glass raw materials (quartz sand, soda ash, etc.) are melted into glass liquid in a high-temperature furnace at approximately 1300℃-1450℃. Craftsmen dip an iron pipe into the glass liquid, blow to form a hollow blank, and at the same time, overlay glass liquid of different colors multiple times.
