Flat Earth Map

Based on a literal interpretation of the Bible, this map depicts the earth's continents in a donut-like basin and portends a flat earth theory that discounts the existence of gravity. Produced and published by self-proclaimed doctor Orlando Ferguson, a native of South Dakota, this map existed in relative obscurity until it was donated and accepted by the Library of Congress in 2011. His depiction places the sun and moon in lamp-like positions and attempts to explain the so-called Columbus phenomenon. This is the perception of a ship breaching the horizon with only the mast being visible before the hull comes into view, and the view of the ship grows as it gets nearer. When the Library of Congress received the map, it was one of only two known to exist still and the only intact representation. This rare piece of cartographical history shows the world in a period of significant advances in technology and culture. As the nineteenth century neared, industrialization and improvements in transportation had caused a boom of prosperity throughout Northern America during the Gilded Age. As the turn of the century neared, the world was transitioning from traditional agrarian cultures to a more urban, developed, and modern setting. The unique aesthetic and distinctive style of this piece immediately transport the viewer back in time, creating an indelible bond between the past and present. This original work of cartographical history has become an important artifact documenting alternative scientific theories and thinking. Our museum quality giclee print comes printed with archival ink on premium heavyweight matte paper.

National Geographic's Holy Land wall map provides a fascinating in-depth look at the faiths, peoples, and politics that have shaped this historic region. This detailed political map is overlayed with facts about significant religious sites. Information on Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, as well as historical periods from the Stone and Bronze ages to the Islamic period through 1917 make this as much an educational tool as an attractive work of cartographic art. Cities, bodies of water, geographical features, ruins, Israeli settlements, and more are noted, as are transportation infrastructure such as highways, roads, railroads, canals, and airports. Coverage includes Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Israel.

This intriguing map reveals in stunning detail the pulsating lights of the Earth at night. See where populations are most and least concentrated. The rare view is a composite image made by three satellites on cloud-free nights over a one-year period. In addition to showing lighted areas of the Earth, this map also features where fires rage and natural gas burn-off and night fishing locations. Made in the USA.

This graphic art print is just the piece for the globetrotter at heart. It's a world map that features the silhouettes of the continents along with two separate compasses and faded latitude and longitude lines for a vintage-inspired vibe we love. There's also an understated grayscale color palette with hints of gold that add an industrial touch. This rectangular map is printed on canvas and set within a distressed wooden frame, so it looks great suspended over your living room sofa or in your home office. This 3D wooden world map adds real depth to your wall and gives you a place to keep track of where you’ve been. Each map is laser-cut from layered wood and assembled by hand, so it has a texture and dimension you won’t get from a flat print or canvas. Hang it over the sofa, behind your desk, or in a hallway or reading nook, and it quickly becomes the focal point of the room. It comes in three colors: Mix, a blend of natural wood tones with a warm, rustic look; Burgundy, with deep red, black, and cream pieces; and Gold/Blue, which pairs gold and navy with cream for a clean, modern feel. It also works like a push pin travel map, without the pins. Just stick the included flags on the countries you’ve visited, the places on your bucket list, and wherever you’re headed next. Over time, it becomes a record of your travels. It’s a great gift for travelers, newlyweds, or a housewarming. Hanging it is a project you can do together, and everything you need is in the box: ocean labels, decorative accents, corner alignment templates, double-sided tape, and step-by-step instructions. Available in four sizes: Medium: 39.4" W x 21.3" H Large: 59.1" W x 31.5" H XLarge: 78.7" W x 41.1" H 2XLarge: 98.4" W x 53.2" H Since this is a decorative map, some smaller countries and islands may be simplified or left out.
