This fireplace has been such a wonderful addition to my home. I am disabled was able to do the very small amount of “installation” required by myself -one has to screw the legs onto the unit. Love these. I have three they are not sturdy and the material is cheap Chinese bent fender. Not one of them aligns correctly and there is a whole song and dance to make the doors close. However once done it ignites easy and gives a lot of heat and a nice flame that can be seen on three sides. This is a beautiful fireplace! It came quickly in one large, heavy box that contains several smaller boxes. It was much easier to carry the smaller boxes inside. The assembly took roughly 2 12 hours with one person and a power drill. The instructions are clear and very easy to follow. You will assemble the entire fireplace upside down, except for the logs. If youre doing it by yourself, make sure youre able to lift heavy items. I had to ask for help to turn it right-side up because I wasnt confident I could do it by myself without damaging it. After placing right-side up, its easy to maneuver on hardwood floor. The flame has one flickering color setting (multi-colored with orange and blue), 3 glowing logs, and 5 levels of brightness and flame speed. You can adjust with the remote or buttons on the firebox. The flame can be used with or without heat. There is a timer that you can set between 30 minutes and 9 hours. The heat comes out of a blower on the top left and adjusts easily based on desired temperature from 62 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit (you can also change this to Celsius). The blower isnt especially loud, similar to a standing fan. I didnt turn it on for long since its almost summer but it heated up quickly. The background can be the brick look or just black. The fireplace is very sturdy, easily holding my 58in TV and is the perfect height to watch from my bed. The storage above the fireplace is bigger than it initially looks. The drawer opening is 6 in tall but the inside is 9in tall x 34in wide x 11in deep. I wanted storage big enough to hold a Wii game system and game discs (and it does). We looked everywhere for an electric log set that would fit in the small firebox of our woodburning fireplace. Burning real wood isn’t practical in this 5th-floor condo in the city, but we love the ambiance and heat of a fire over the long Minnesota winter. We are extremely happy with this product so far! Since we have a snug firebox for the “flames” to project on, we chose not to attach the rear screen. The glowing coals and flames look pretty convincing in person, especially with the screen closed. We’ll have to use white tape to conceal the cord for now and eventually plan to hide it in a special track with the help of a carpenter coming to build our adjacent bookshelf units. We haven’t used the heating function yet since we’re current experiencing very hot summer weather, so can’t comment on that. Overall we’re just delighted with how this looks (more like a glowing coal basket, which we like, vs. “fake logs”) and how it’s allowing us to make use of this existing fireplace. Fire pit is nice, but it is not fully cast iron. Only the top part and the lid are cast iron parts. The base it sheet metal and the legs are sheet metal. If you push it along the ground too hard one of the legs may buckle. Its only about 40% cast iron. I was expecting the base and legs to be cast iron. The price was low so so I will keep it. I had a fully cast iron chiminea that lasted about 25 yrs. I was trying to get another of similar quality. There is no way this one is going to last 25 years. Love the top of this fireplace!! It’s hollow but looks beautiful. We love the look of this fireplace even the original color looked nice. The other reviews are true the panels chip very easy at the corners but it wasn’t a problem for us bc we wanted a black fireplace. It’s kind of silly we bought this to paint it BUT we loved the look just not the color we wanted plus it was on sale and other black fireplaces were over 1500 dollars so we saved 800 with a little labor..
