The faux shagreen is well done, and we found that ours had a light gray finish that was true to the listing photos. The doors open easily, close securely, and are well aligned. The metal frame bottom feels sturdy, as do the shelves inside. If we had one complaint, it's that ours needed to be aired out for several weeks; it came with a very strong, unpleasant odor, (noticeable only when one of the doors was open). Overall, we are very happy with this purchase.
