It's almost perfect for where I put it. I have a very high (~12') octagonal window in my bedroom, and it's impossible to find a shade that's right for it. But the sun shines in that window right in my eyes and wakes me up at 6am every morning, so I wanted to cover that window without making it look ridiculous. I have white plantation shutters on the lower windows, so it looks nice with those. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because there was a choice between "functional" and "non-functional" versions of this cover, but the terms weren't defined. I assumed they meant that functional has moving slats, and non-functional was slats that don't move. So I ordered the functional version to be sure I could close them all the way But what they meant was that functional has holes between the slats (for allowing airflow in an attic, I guess), and non-functional is solid - no holes. I should have gotten the non-functional version, because it would have blocked all the light. But I couldn't wait another day to get rid of that early morning light, so I just installed it right away and started getting the benefit of blocked light in the morning. It's much better, but I might someday replace it with the non-functional version.. Cheryl. Redwood City, CA. Tue May 09 2023

Pediments are the portion of the trim that is located above the pilasters, which are the column-like frames on the sides of windows and doors. Directly below the pediments, though, between the pediment and the pilasters, is a crosshead or breastboard. The crosshead is the flatter, protruding section directly above the door. Pediments can be purchased by themselves or can come with a crosshead already attached. These pediments are manufactured out of high-density urethane, which is made to resemble wood without the maintenance required by wood products. Urethane products are resistant to cracking, splitting, and rotting. They are usually less expensive than wood alternatives.

Add natural beauty to any interior or exterior project with distinct western red cedar or Douglas fir. Rustic wood brackets, corbels, rafter tails, and outlooks will contain unique colors, grains, textures, knots, sapwood & heartwood content, and possible sap bleeding, and even natural checking, splitting & natural cracks. These variations are what make the Rustic Collection stand out from the rest. Stand out from the cookie-cutter homes; by using any product from Ekena's Rustic Collection.

Bought the primed functional half round gable vent, and am happy with the solid construction. Before painting needed to remove the insect screen, which was stapled to the back, to avoid getting paint on the screen. Also needed to sand some edges due to wood splinters and one slat which had a significant raised grain pattern. Reattached the screen with brass nails as the staples were unusable.. Caroline B. Signature Urethane is a groundbreaking progression in the world of architectural millwork. Molded urethane products have dominated the landscape for their beauty, crisp detail, longevity, and ease of access, but the introduction of specific sizes and styles proved challenging as a new mold would have to be made every time. The introduction of the Signature Urethane line of products takes all of those tried and true benefits of urethane, and frees it from the mold, meaning you have access to sizes and styles, and even fully customized designs, at an unprecedented level. These items are fully made to the order, using a combination of modern building techniques, and good old fashioned hand craftsmanship, to ensure your corbel, bracket, pilaster, pediment, gable vent or any other piece your project requires comes in exactly as you need it.
