We purchased three oak cabinets to make a buffet. All came in perfect shape due to excellent packaging. Instructions are easy to follow pictures, but we found that putting hinges on panels 2 and 3, right from the start made it easier to put doors on at the end, since it’s hard to screw on when everything is put together. The trick at the end is to make sure the hinges are in closed position then place door holes over hinge, as if the door was completely closed. Then slowly open the door and the hinge will be in correct position to screw the remaining screws on door backside. Also double check that panel 5 is in correct position with locking mechanism near panel 4, otherwise you will have the holes of the mechanism on the top side of the shelf when finished and will have to use oak stickers to cover up the silver hardware. I think if I could give a half star, I would. I’d give this a 4.5 stars. First off, it ships in two boxes which is nice. It makes it much easier to handle once delivered. It comes packaged well and nothing was damaged in transit. Assembly is quite laborious. It took me a long time to put this together all by myself. There are a lot of screw and various parts. The MDF does seem a little soft. Someone else said that in a review and I didn’t quite understand what they meant until I assembled it myself. Some of the screws didn’t seem to grip the wood when you put them in. That being said though, it does seem like a sturdy piece once assembled so long as you don’t move it. It’s an impossible piece to move by yourself once assembled due to its size and the way it is held together. It does seem very sturdy once it’s placed in its final position. I did not have any trouble with the door or drawer alignment. I think it does look nice once is assembled and I love the storage of it.
