I couldn’t be happier with these bookcases. They look beautiful, feel sturdy once assembled, and offer a surprising amount of storage. The combination of open shelving, drawers, and cabinet space makes them both functional and attractive. Assembly is definitely a two-person job and is a bit involved. Our first bookcase took about four hours to assemble, but by the time we built the second one, we’d learned the process and finished it in under three hours. One tip for future buyers the instructions have you attach the hinges to the cabinet doors first and then install them after the cabinet is fully assembled. We found it much easier to attach the hinge hardware to the cabinet frame before installing the top panel, then attach the doors as the final step. It’s still a little fiddly, but it’s much easier than trying to work in a cramped space with tiny screws. Overall, these bookcases exceeded my expectations. These are lovely shelves and a great value for the money. They arrived well packaged in two boxes. I purchased 2 to be used in my office and placed them sided by side. Pictures were taken during assembly. The instructions were clearly written by someone who did not speak English as their first language. However, assembly is fairly intuitive. Note the pictures included showing the different lengths of the pieces. You need to ensure that you use the small ones for the legs and the ones that are labeled B for the first set of shelving. Assembly is easy for one person, however care must be taken to not damage the paint. I have attached several pictures of what I did to alleviate scratching while assembling. Also, they are exceptionally heavy! In order to turn them right side up you really need two fairly strong people. My husband and I turned them over no problem, but it is a two person job! My greatest complaint about these shelves is when you are sitting or standing, you can see the rails for the glass shelves. That is unsightly and why I knocked off one star from my review. I am very happy with the look and quality at this price point. I was struggling to find something to for my narrow space in this room. Another thing to note is there are stickers to cover the screws etc. not my favorite but at this price point it’s not bad, and at least you don’t look at the screws like some other affordable pieces. My father made some kind of extended anti-tipping wall anchors since I wanted the shelves on a wall with a baseboard heater so they were a bit far from the wall for the anchors they come with. This was surprisingly the simplest piece of furniture I’ve ever put together. It’s decent quality and quite sturdy. It’s very nice looking.
