Absolutely beautiful, black, solid wood table! It is not engineered wood or cheap MDF. Very easy to assemble. Just add the four legs. It emanates from the box more but does linger on the wood. The stability issue resolved one the legs were tightened appropriately. The table is beautiful and fits the space perfectly. The exact look we were going for. Love it is from reclaimed wood. We will be applying a satin sealer since the wood is not sealed. When wiping the wood down, the colors really popped! This very rare-to-find hand-made yet properly engineered solid wood table was proudly made possible from a lifetime of furniture manufacturing experience. The table base and top center bands are handcrafted using reclaimed solid New Zealand Pine that is specifically hand-selected, sourced, and imported for the final combined effect. The hand finishing is an open grain Farmhouse style wood finishing giving protection but maintaining the very natural effects of the reclaimed and solid woods used. Minor assembly of the top to the base allows easier placement into the home. I loved this table when we got it. There was a very large flaw about the size of a dollar bill that I decided to live with. Then the first time we used it my glass sweat on the surface and it left a mark. I thought it would dry, the mark remained. Every drip leaves a permanent mark. When I tried to wipe the whole area, I took the gray was off. That was unacceptable to me so I lightly sanded the surface, filled the hole, gray washeded the surface and then put a finish coat on the whole thing.
