I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to build. You do need a screwdriver for the door handles which is a little silly considering the rest of the pieces just click together. It is STURDY, I misaligned the one door and it took some serious muscle to get it apart. Given that the item is for cats who are notorious for chaos, I think that’s a good thing. The doors on the front are nice and secure, no swinging open and the side flaps for the litter box access are easy to use. My cat was swatting them before I had even finished the build. My cats and I love this beautiful, comfy Dakota Fields rattan cat bed! Our 10-month old kittens, Linus and Samwise, ran up and into it the second I unboxed it. Well, Linus got in, and Sam wanted to join him! Now the bed is on our cat shelves, and our 12-year old Flame Point Siamese mix Oscar sleeps in it every morning after breakfast. I took the pic of him curled up and sleeping deeply as I was writing this review. Oscar is almost 13 lbs, and Linus is about 11 lbs, and they both fit very well. I do not see how anyone could find this bed too small. Both Linus and Sam fit last week, though they are not full grown yet. The second I set this cat bed vanity stool down, our kittens Samwise and Linus jumped in it and on it! I could not believe how pretty the wood and green leather seat were when I took it from the box. BTE, it was well-packed and arrived quickly. My husband had it assembled in less than ten minutes and the boys milled around him while he put the legs on. I plan to put it in a sunny spot upstairs and not with all the other cat toys, but these pics were so cute I just had to post ASAP.
