This is a quality made cat scratcher, which my cat only uses as a perch. I discovered that she does not use scratching posts (she uses the area rugs for her scratching needs). But I need to mention that the base shouldve been made larger, as it almost toppled over the first time my small cat jumped up on the perch, and it spooked her. You could maybe secure it to a wall for stability, although it doesnt come with any hardware to do that with. Or put a heavy object in the middle of the base to make it more secure. My cat has since learned to jump on the perch from the bed, which is a little bit higher than the perch. Bottom line is, unless you can make it more stable, I wouldnt recommend this scratcher if your cat is large and a zealous scratcher, or older and has trouble jumping up (thus, the danger of pulling it over on itself, like mine almost did). I’m really happy with this scratcher bed and so are my cats! Assembly was very easy and only took a few minutes. The instructions were clear, all the pieces fit together without any issues, and I didn’t need any special tools. It feels sturdy once put together, and the curved wooden frame looks much nicer than the typical cat scratchers you see in stores. The biggest plus for me is that this is not cardboard. I’ve bought so many cardboard scratchers before, and they always end up shedding little pieces everywhere. This sisal surface is much cleaner and more durable. There’s no mess on the floor, and it seems like it’s going to last a lot longer than the disposable cardboard ones. That alone makes it worth the purchase. My cats started using it almost immediately. One of them likes to scratch on the sides while the other actually lounges in the curved shape like it’s a little hammock. The size is perfect for adult cats, and it feels solid enough that it doesn’t wobble or slide around when they jump on it. I also like the neutral wood color because it blends in with my furniture instead of looking like a cheap pet toy. It actually looks nice sitting in the room. Overall, this was a great buy.
