I bought this after having my roof replaced and having severe offgassing that somehow came into our living space. It helped tremendously to make our bedroom livable. I can visually see the air being cleaned on the screen and watch as the VOC's and other numbers decrease. I can also feel it. You put water in the base and add the ice packs that are included to make the fan blow cooler air. It's not nearly as cool as an air conditioner but it's better than hot dry air blowing when it's too warm out. It comes with 4 ice packs so you can use two and have two in the freezer to switch out.
