Terrific heater! We had an electric fireplace from another box store that the warming unit went bad in and I was unable to get any replacement parts for. The measurements of this unit were correct so I replaced the other heater with this and it has worked perfectly, it even looks better than the original! Received this 2 days ago. Shipping was very fast. The first thing that jumped out at me was the instruction manual - First, the instruction manual needs a vast improvement. Most of the instructions are diagrams (there should be diagrams AND printed text). Second, the diagrams are small (I needed a magnifying glass at some steps). Everything needs to be enlarged and in bolder print. - I found that 2 piece stickers were mis-labeled and that was evident in the instruction manual when, as I was going along, I came across some piece stickers that were, manually, put on over others. For the product itself (after assembly completion which, by the way, took me about 3 hours). - It looks really nice and it does have weight. Much of it, if not all, is particle board. It would have been nice if 2 additional shelves were included, for a total of 4, along with additional shelf holders (there was plenty of room to make additional shelf holes). This is a beautiful fireplace! It came quickly in one large, heavy box that contains several smaller boxes. It was much easier to carry the smaller boxes inside. The assembly took roughly 2 12 hours with one person and a power drill. The instructions are clear and very easy to follow. You will assemble the entire fireplace upside down, except for the logs. If youre doing it by yourself, make sure youre able to lift heavy items. I had to ask for help to turn it right-side up because I wasnt confident I could do it by myself without damaging it. After placing right-side up, its easy to maneuver on hardwood floor. The flame has one flickering color setting (multi-colored with orange and blue), 3 glowing logs, and 5 levels of brightness and flame speed. You can adjust with the remote or buttons on the firebox. The flame can be used with or without heat. There is a timer that you can set between 30 minutes and 9 hours. The heat comes out of a blower on the top left and adjusts easily based on desired temperature from 62 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit (you can also change this to Celsius). The blower isnt especially loud, similar to a standing fan. I didnt turn it on for long since its almost summer but it heated up quickly. The background can be the brick look or just black. The fireplace is very sturdy, easily holding my 58in TV and is the perfect height to watch from my bed. The storage above the fireplace is bigger than it initially looks. The drawer opening is 6 in tall but the inside is 9in tall x 34in wide x 11in deep. I wanted storage big enough to hold a Wii game system and game discs (and it does). I love the Duraflame brand and their Electric Fireplace Media Console did NOT disappoint!! There is so much I like about it- the design on the cabinet doors (and their tempered glass!), the bright white finish and faux marble top, the molding along the bottom. It is just beautiful in person. I had another electric fireplace before this, and the flame on this one looks so much more realistic. I love that you can change the settings on the size of the flame, so it can look like a roaring fire all the way down to just glowing embers (5 settings total). It puts off fantastic heat and you can adjust the temperature by several degrees, either in one degree or 5 degree increments. It comes with a remote control and also has a discreet control panel on the unit. It has an option to set a timer for the heat to automatically turn off. As an added bonus, it has a safety plug that prevents overheating. It has a nice storage space with a cable opening in the back for electronic devices (like a soundbar). The cabinet door handles are heavy and quality metal. The cabinets have lots of storage space with adjustable shelves. It's a large piece and heavy, so be prepared to have someone help with the box when it arrives and plan on it taking about 2 1/2 hours to assemble. I really like this electric heater. I prefer to use a small unit like this instead of turning on the main house heat. The imitation logs and flame look really nice.
